The movie will be directed by Joseph Kosinski of “Top Gun: Maverick” fame and produced by a team including Jerry Bruckheimer. The untitled movie follows Brad Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, a former F1 driver staging a comeback. Supporting cast includes Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce.

The story unfolds as Hayes mentors Pearce on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP). Throughout the movie Hayes will navigate the challenges of high-speed racing amidst personal redemption.

Filming for the movie began at Silverstone Circuit during the 2023 British Grand Prix. Pitt made a surprise visit when he joined actual F1 drivers to “enhance” the film’s “authenticity”. Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton will serve as the movie’s co-producer.

Apple Studios secured distribution rights, while Warner Bros Pictures has planned a global release next year, followed by a US release two days later.
