RAWALPINDI: Najaf Hamid, a Naib Tehsildar, was remanded to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi for 14 days in a corruption case by a local court on Monday.
The decision came after a special anti-corruption court rejected Najaf’s plea for pre-arrest bail. He faces charges of amassing assets beyond his known sources of income, corruption, and misconduct.
Senior Civil Judge Waqar Hussain Gondal, in his order, stated that the investigation officer had requested Najaf’s transfer to judicial lockup due to the non-bailable nature of the charges.
Najaf is scheduled to be produced before the concerned court on April 1, along with a report under Section 173 CrPC.

Najaf’s attempts to secure an extension to his pre-arrest interim bail before anti-corruption judge Ali Nawaz Bhakar were unsuccessful.
Subsequently, he was taken into custody by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Rawalpindi.
Efforts to obtain post-arrest bail also met with failure as the court dismissed Najaf’s request.
The anti-corruption department Punjab confirmed Najaf’s arrest after his interim bail was rejected, citing evidence uncovered during investigations.
Najaf Hamid is the brother of former ISI chief Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid.
