Rizwan leads Pakistan to warm-up victory against New Zealand

HYDERABAD: In the 13th edition of the ICC World Cup, currently hosted by India, the New Zealand national cricket team and the Pakistan national cricket team face off each other today in a high-intensity warm-up match.

In the World Cup warm-up match against New Zealand, Mohammad Rizwan scored a century.  Mohammad Rizwan scored 103 runs off 93 balls.

The match is currently taling place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Historically, teams that have won the World Cup since 1999 have been ranked among the top two in the rankings.

After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first. Abdullah Shafique scored 14 runs, and Imam-ul-Haq contributed 1 run before rain interruptions led to a halt in play. Due to security reasons, no spectators were allowed inside the stadium. Babar Azam scored 80 runs.

The national team lineup for Pakistan featured Babar Azam (captain), Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz, Saud Shakeel, and Osama Mir.

New Zealand’s playing XI included Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, Ish Sodhi, and Tom Southie.

In terms of head-to-head statistics in One Day Internationals (ODIs), Pakistan has had the upper hand against New Zealand. The two teams have played a total of 115 ODIs, with Pakistan winning 60 and New Zealand winning 51.

It’s worth noting that the formal start of the ICC World Cup matches is scheduled for October 5, with Pakistan playing their first match against the Netherlands on October 6.

Earlier, Babar Azam, moved by the love and support of fans in the Indian city of Hyderabad, expressed his gratitude, saying, “The passion and support we receive here in Hyderabad is heartwarming.”
