Robbers loot Rs178mln from gold trader in Peshawar

WEB DESK: Armed robbers looted Rs178 million from a gold trader in Peshawar and fled the scene, police officials said.

According to police, the incident occurred in the limits of the relevant police station when motorcycle-riding suspects intercepted the trader and snatched the cash at gunpoint before escaping.

A case has been registered over the incident, while police have launched an investigation to trace the suspects involved in the robbery.

The FIR said that the affected traders had sold 488 grams of gold shortly before the incident and had placed the money received from the sale inside their vehicle.

According to the FIR, the suspects targeted the traders while they were purchasing goods from a shop and took away the cash at gunpoint.

Police said efforts were underway to collect evidence, review available footage, and identify the suspects involved in the incident.
