Robert Pattinson hints Zendaya may have helped him land role in ‘Dune: Part Three’

Robert Pattinson has hinted that Zendaya may have quietly played a role in his casting in Dune: Part Three, revealing a surprising behind-the-scenes moment that is now getting fans talking.

Speaking at a trailer launch event in Los Angeles, the actor joked that his co-star had “something to do with” him landing the role of Scytale in the upcoming sci-fi sequel.

Pattinson said he had long admired the Dune films and even asked Zendaya about joining the franchise while they were working together on another project.

“I absolutely adored these movies,” he said. “I saw them multiple times in the theatres.”

Recalling the exchange, Pattinson said he asked her directly, “Can I get in one of those Dune movies?”

Zendaya responded with a playful, “I know a guy,” drawing laughter from the audience.

A few months later, Pattinson said he received a call about the role, prompting him to wonder whether Zendaya had helped make it happen.

“It was a very unexpected call,” he said. “I kind of did think you had something to do with it.”

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Dune: Part Three continues the story of Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, and Chani, portrayed by Zendaya, as the trilogy moves towards its conclusion.

The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem, with Jason Momoa returning.

Pattinson’s character, Scytale, is described as an ambiguous figure whose true loyalties are unclear.

“You can’t really tell whose side he’s on,” Pattinson said. “He might not even be a conventional villain.”

The film is based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah and marks the final instalment in Villeneuve’s adaptation.

Dune: Part Three is set to release in cinemas on December 18.
