Roblox under fire for child safety concerns, shutdown rumors continue

WEB DESK: Kuwait’s Ministry of Information has urged the Ministry of Communications to block the popular online gaming platform Roblox, citing rising concerns over child safety and inappropriate content. This move follows a series of complaints from Kuwaiti citizens who argue that the game promotes violent behavior, contradicts local social values, and exposes children to unsuitable material.

The push for the ban comes amidst mounting criticism that Roblox contains graphic violence, disturbing scenes, and encourages harmful behaviors, which many feel pose a risk to minors’ mental health and safety. This decision mirrors similar actions taken by other nations, including Qatar, Oman, China, and Turkey, where authorities have also cited child safety and exposure to harmful content as reasons for their bans.

SHUTDOWN RUMORS CONTINUE

Amidst these concerns and blocking moves, online speculation has ignited fears that Roblox may permanently shut down by September 1, 2025. However, the company has yet to release an official statement on these rumors.

Reports of possible shutdown began after an alleged “official message” from Roblox circulated, suggesting the platform would close due to increasing safety concerns and a surge in public demand for its removal.

However, many users have reported inconsistencies with the message, and no credible sources have verified the shutdown announcement. Roblox has not commented on the rumor and continues to post regular updates on new features and in-game events, suggesting that business as usual is in place.

Despite the ongoing safety debates, and the high-profile banning of the game Predator Hunter Schlep earlier this year, Roblox remains a global leader in online gaming, with millions of active users engaged in games like Blox Fruits, Grow a Garden, and Steal a Brainrot.
