Royals vs Cardinals: Kansas City desperate to end losing streak

KANSAS CITY: The Kansas City Royals will try to stop their six-game losing streak when they play the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

The Royals have already lost the first two games of the series and are struggling at the bottom of the AL Central standings.

Kansas City lost 5-4 in 11 innings on Friday and then suffered another 4-2 defeat on Saturday.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said the team is creating chances but failing to get important hits at key moments.

The Royals left the bases loaded in the second inning on Saturday and could not take advantage. Jac Caglianone later hit a home run in the ninth inning, but it was not enough.

Stephen Kolek will start for Kansas City in the final game of the series. He struggled in his last outing but has a good record against the Cardinals.

St. Louis will start Andre Pallante, who recently earned a win against the Athletics.

The Cardinals also got a strong performance from Victor Scott II on Saturday, as he collected two hits and one RBI.

St. Louis now hopes to complete the series sweep, while the Royals are desperate to finally get a win.
