Rupee appreciates further against US dollar


KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee continued its upward trajectory against the US dollar on Tuesday, and closed at Rs289.80.

The gap between the interbank rate and the dollar’s value has further narrowed as the US dollar depreciated by Rs1.90 paisas.

Separately, The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its losing streak from yesterday, and slipped down by 44 points by the midday today.

Opening at 46,393.67 points, the index posted a noticeable gain to 46,503.82 points earlier in the day. However, part of these gains eroded by the afternoon when the benchmark KSE-100 index touched the lowest of the morning at 46,307.16 points. By the afternoon the benchmark KSE-100 index was seen hovering at 46,350.23 points.
