SA vs NZ: Markram blazes in 176 chase, NZ put efforts to retain atop

AHEMADABAD: Skipper Aiden Markram and Marco Jansen powered their team after playing to their fullest in the SA vs NZ clash tonight, with Markram anchoring an unbeaten 86 off 44 balls and Jansen claiming 4 of NZ’s key wickets for 40 runs.

South Africa earlier chose to field first, who aimed at restricting the opponents to a modest 175 runs.

Proteas were able to continue with what they had gained energy during the first innings of the 24th clash. Aiden Markram scored 86 (not out), featuring 8 boundaries and 4 sixes. Dvid Miller provided a 24-run stunning input while Ryan Rickelton added 21 off 11 balls.

Thanks to the seven extras, as they enabled the SA team to clinch the NZ clash.

The SA VS NZ clash, won by SA, has now brought with it a change in the Group D standings as well, allowing the SA team to settle atop, as the Proteas have three to leave NZ behind, who have clinched only 2.

South Africa’s upper hand was settled from the very beginning of the clash as the NZ batters couldnt show up any confidence to face the storm effectively delivered by the SA bowlers, such as Jansen (Four wickets for 40 runs).

For NZ, Mark Chapman was the only top batter who was able to undertake the pressure, scoring 48 off 26 balls. But again, Proteas didn’t allow any of the batters to leave impressive performances at the crease against SA. Daryl Mitchell added 32, Finn Allen 31, while James Neesham provided 23 (not out).

Jansen was the pick of the bowlers for SA, taking four wickets for 40 runs in his four overs, while Lungi Ngidi, Corbin Bosch and Maharaj made one scalp apiece.
