South Africa Women VS Pakistan Women

ISLAMABAD: The national team were defeated on Tuesday after a crushing 150-run loss (DLS method) in the South Africa Women versus Pakistan Women at Premadasa Stadium.

Pakistan needed a triumph for gaining a chance to qualify for next phase that was especially decided after Fatima captained team couldn’t make it in the last four overs. After the national team’s defeat in the South Africa vs Pakistan, Laura guided team qualified for the next games while Fatima captained team crashed out of the whole of the global tournament.

In her interview, the national team’s skipper Fatima said, “I think today is the day bowlers didn’t perform well. We have to accept it. They played very well, but we needed to be calmer in those situations.”

“I think after the second over, and after the rain, it was a different situation because the conditions and the ball were wet,” she added in the interview.

Earlier, Fatima Sana captained team elected to field first aimed for restricting the opposite side to a limited score in the ICC WCW 2025 but their aim went the other way around.

Pakistan batting line

Pakistan began chasing 9-wicket 312-run target posted by the Laura’s playing XI in a challenging time as the national team lost four key wickets for 35 in early 10 overs. The so far performance left the national team at an even bigger loss this time if compared to South Africa Women.

Both of the top order batters, Maneeba Ali and Omaima Sohail, managed only 11 off 17 balls, each adding only 5 and 6 runs respectively before being destroyed by Ayabonga Khaka and Marizanne Kapp respectively.

The next batters were Sidra Ameen and Aliya Riaz who stepped in to save their batting line but they too didn’t show up any difference. Both were downed by Marizanne after scoring just 24-deliveries 13 and 11-ball 3, leaving the total in a disparate momentum.

After rain interrupted play for a while, Pakistan’s middle-order batters Natalia Pervaiz and Sidra Nawaz stepped in to rescue their team at the crease. However, Natalia was soon dismissed after scoring 20 runs off 24 balls, bringing in Fatima Sana to support Sidra. Fatima, too, fell cheaply for just 2 runs, shifting the fans’ hopes to Rameen Shamim. Unfortunately, Rameen managed only 3 off 7 deliveries before being run out by Klerk. Sidra remained unbeaten, but Pakistan lost the crucial game, finishing with just 83 runs for 7 wickets tonight.

The following order are the next players to come on pitch: Skipper Fatima Sana, Rameen Shamim, Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal.

South Africa began their batting by sending Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits to open the innings. The second-in Tazmin went for a duck but position-one skipper Laura went remarkable, scoring 90 off 82 balls before being claimed by Nashra Sandhu.

Sune Luus and unbeaten Marizanne Kapp also played havoc with their bat as each scored 61 and 68, increasing the team’s total to 228.

Pakistan Women pacers spinners were able to down three more players for a duck who included Karabo Meso, Nondumiso Shangase and Nonkululeko Mlaaba. However, lower order had still got two more amazing batters to push the total for a better increase. They were Chloe Tryon (21 off 16 balls) and Nadine de Klerk (41 off 16 deliveries) who increased the total this time up to 290. The total still went up to 312 following the 22 extras conceded by the Pakistan Women pacers and spinners.
