Salim Mandviwala, others acquitted in fake accounts case

ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court in Islamabad has acquitted all accused, including Senator Salim Mandviwala and former PIA Managing Director Ijaz Haroon, in the fake accounts case.

Accountability Court-I Judge Nasir Javed Rana heard the Kidney Hills fake accounts reference.

The NAB chairman requested the court to acquit all the accused in accordance with the law, in view of the decision taken by the NAB Executive Board meeting on September 4 that recommended to withdraw the reference.

The NAB chairman said that the reference should not have been filed.

The NAB chairman decided to withdraw the reference against Salim Mandviwala and the other accused, and requested the court to do so.

The court accepted NAB’s plea and acquitted all the accused.

It is worth noting that the reference had been filed against seven individuals in January 2021.
