Salman Ali Agha to retain team’s captaincy until T20 World Cup 2026: PCB

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain Salman Ali Agha as the national team’s T20 captain until the T20 World Cup 2026.

According to sources close to the PCB, Salman Ali Agha’s leadership as skipper has remained highly impressive. Despite rumours regarding a possible change in captaincy, there is a strong likelihood that Salman Ali Khan will continue leading the side until the mega event.

Officials are particularly pleased with the team’s renewed fighting spirit, noting that the squad now appears more united on the field — a cohesion they believe was lacking in the past.

They further stated that Salman Agha’s leadership qualities have put the team back on a winning trajectory, eliminating any need for change at this stage.

It is noteworthy that Salman Agha has captained 38 of his 40 T20 International matches, becoming Pakistan’s third most successful T20 captain with 23 victories. Under Babar Azam’s leadership, Pakistan won 48 matches, while Sarfaraz Ahmed oversaw 29 wins. Most recently, Pakistan clinched the triangular T20 series in Rawalpindi under Salman’s captaincy.
