Saudi Civil Defence has announced that the danger in Jizan city has passed, while urging residents to continue following safety instructions and avoid gatherings and filming.

In an update posted on X, Civil Defence advised the public to follow its instructions and refrain from gathering or filming at the scene. It also urged people to call 998 in case of an emergency.

Separately, Saudi Civil Defence said the danger had passed in Abha.

Helicopter crash kills two in Najran

The developments follow a helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia’s Najran region on Sunday that killed two crew members, according to a statement by the Saudi-led coalition.

Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki said a reconnaissance AH-6i helicopter crashed because of a technical malfunction in an area under the jurisdiction of the Saudi National Guard Ministry.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group later released footage of what it claimed was a Saudi helicopter being shot down by a missile near Najran. Reuters said the footage did not clearly show the incident and it could not immediately verify the claim.

Saudi Civil Defence separately reported that six people were injured after a projectile, which it said had been fired by the Houthis, landed in a residential area in Najran.

The incidents come amid escalating fighting between the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis in Yemen.

Tanker catches fire in Strait of Hormuz

In a separate development, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy said an oil tanker caught fire and exploded after striking a naval mine in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, according to Iranian media.
