LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed surprise at the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the reserved seats, stating that they are bringing back an individual who is a “criminal of the nation”.
She questioned the motives of those hindering the country’s development.
Speaking at a ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said that the government will complete its five-year term and warned against any interference, vowing an iron-fist response to any hurdles.
She expressed her dismay at the Supreme Court’s decision, suggesting that it had overstepped its bounds by granting something unrequested asking the parliamentarians to join the PTI in 15 days, which is tantamount to floor-crossing, which the constitution doesn’t allow.
Maryam Nawaz pointed out that the person being reintroduced is serving a sentence in Adiala jail, implying he was responsible for bringing back the International Monetary Fund.
She urged the public to remain vigilant and resist any further disruption, asserting that a government stabilising the country should be allowed to continue and complete its term.

She accused Supreme Court judges of rewriting the constitution to favour one individual, urging them to allow the country to progress.
She argued that decisions should be based on the constitution, not personal conscience, and criticized the Supreme Court for providing undue relief to the PTI.
Highlighting the economic challenges, she acknowledged the difficulty in controlling inflation once it rises.
She commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for making tough decisions to tackle inflation and assured that the government is taking all possible measures to address the issue.
She announced the launch of the largest solar project in Pakistan’s history in Punjab, promising free solar energy to consumers using up to 200 units of electricity.
Maryam Nawaz vowed to continue serving the nation as long as she remains in office.
