Search and combing operations continues across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining districts

ISLAMABAD: Police carried out search and combing operations across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree, checking homes, vehicles, hostels and markets as part of a wider security crackdown, officials said.
According to an Islamabad Police spokesperson, in Islamabad’s Shahzad Town area, police recovered ammunition for 8-bore and 30-bore pistols. During the operation, 235 houses and 110 individuals were checked, while six vehicles and 14 motorcycles were also inspected.
In Rawalpindi, a search operation was conducted in the Dhoke Jamna area, where 47 vehicles were checked. Police also searched 29 hostels, two hotels and two shops. During the operation, 31 suspicious individuals were taken into custody.
In Attock, police checked 117 individuals and 791 houses in different areas. Authorities said 1,610 grams of charas were recovered and two drug dealers were arrested.
In Jhelum, 355 individuals and 151 houses were checked during similar operations. Police said four Afghan nationals were arrested during the crackdown.
In Chakwal, weapons and ammunition were recovered during the operation, and cases were registered.
Meanwhile, in Murree, search operations were conducted in Kotli Bazaar, Sunny Bank and New Murree Bazaar. Police said three proclaimed offenders were arrested there.
The spokesperson added that six illegal Afghan nationals were also arrested and shifted to a holding centre.
