WEB DESK: Pakistan’s security forces successfully foiled a cross-border infiltration attempt from Afghanistan in the Bajaur district, killing four foreign militants, including a senior extremist commander, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to the ISPR, the slain militants included Amjad alias Mazahim, a key terrorist leader and deputy to Noor Wali, the head of the Fitna al-Khawarij network. Amjad also served as the chief of the group’s so-called “Ruhbari Shura” (leadership council) and carried a bounty of PKR five-million on his head.
The statement said that the terrorists were attempting to cross into Pakistan from Afghan territory when security forces intercepted their movement and launched a swift counter-operation.
The ISPR added that Amjad and his associates had been operating from inside Afghanistan, orchestrating anti-Pakistan attacks and terror plots.
Pakistan once again reiterated its demand that Afghan soil must not be used for terrorist activities against it.
The military spokesperson said that the Fitna al-Khawarij network, operating from Afghanistan, continues to target Pakistan through cross-border attacks. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain fully committed to defending the nation’s borders, adding that counterterrorism operations will continue with full intensity until the complete elimination of terrorism.
