RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed four terrorists during successful operations carried out in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted effective operations on November 17 and 18 in different areas of the province, eliminating four members of the India-backed proxy group Khawarij.

The ISPR said that an intelligence-based operation was launched in Bajaur district after reports of terrorist presence.

Security personnel targeted the militants’ hideout, and after an intense exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed.

Similarly, two more terrorists were killed during operations in the general areas of Spinwam and Zakir Khel in North Waziristan.

Another encounter took place in Dera Ismail Khan, where forces eliminated one more terrorist.

According to the ISPR, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who were involved in several terrorist activities in the region in recent months.

The ISPR added that a sanitisation operation has been initiated to ensure the area is cleared of any remaining terrorists backed by India.

According to the ISPR, under the federally approved campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam”, security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their counterterrorism campaign with full resolve, aiming to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Earlier, security forces have killed 24 militants belonging to the India-backed terrorist group Fitna al-Khawarij in operations in two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking the militant death toll to 37 in the past two days.
