Security forces kill wanted militant commander in North Waziristan

ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed a wanted militant commander along with four other terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Spin Wam area of North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources said on Thursday.
According to the sources, most wanted commander Umar alias Jan Mir aka Tor Saqib, was killed along with his four accomplices during the operation, the sources said.
Umar carried a bounty of Rs3 million on his head and was involved in multiple attacks on security forces and civilians, according to security officials.
Security sources said that the militant commander had established underground bunkers, tunnels and improvised explosive devices in the vicinity of a mosque area in Spin Wam.
They said that security forces surrounded the militants and engaged them in a coordinated operation, killing all five.
They described the slain commander as a key planner of several attacks in the region.
Security sources said that the operation dealt a blow to militant networks operating in the region.
They said that operations under “Azm-e-Istehkam” against proscribed militant groups will continue in the area.
