Security guard breaks silence after Chappell Roan row involving Jorginho’s daughter

A security guard at the centre of the controversy involving Chappell Roan and Jorginho’s young daughter has broken his silence, taking responsibility while insisting the singer was not involved.

Pascal Duvier issued a statement following claims that an 11-year-old girl was confronted at a hotel in São Paulo, after Jorginho alleged his daughter had been accused of harassing the singer.

“I take full responsibility for the interactions,” Duvier said, adding that his actions were not carried out on behalf of Roan, her team or management.

He explained that he was at the hotel working for another individual and made a “judgment call” based on information from the venue, previous observations and what he described as heightened security concerns.

“The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan,” he said, stressing that his interaction with the child’s mother was calm and intended to be protective, though he admitted the outcome was “regretful”.

The statement comes days after Jorginho publicly criticised the incident, claiming his daughter had been left shaken following the encounter.

Roan’s team has also distanced the singer from the situation. A spokesperson said she had “zero tolerance” for aggressive behaviour and was unaware of any interaction between the family and a third-party security guard.

The singer herself addressed the controversy in a video, saying she had not asked anyone to approach the child and had no direct contact with the family.

“I didn’t even see a woman and a child,” she said, adding that no one approached or disturbed her during the hotel breakfast.

Meanwhile, the girl’s mother has disputed aspects of that account, claiming her daughter did not attempt to approach or photograph the singer before being confronted by the guard, whom she described as intimidating.

The incident has added to ongoing conversations around celebrity boundaries, fan interactions and the role of private security in public spaces, particularly when children are involved.

It also follows Roan’s recent calls for stricter boundaries with fans and photographers, after she criticised what she described as intrusive behaviour earlier this month.
