CHAMAN: A gas cylinder explosion in a house near Tor Pul in Chaman, Balochistan, killed seven people, including children, and injured 22 others, local authorities said on Thursday.

Rescue volunteers rushed to the scene after the blast and removed bodies from the rubble and transported the injured to nearby hospitals.

Security forces sealed off the area following the incident.

According to security sources, the explosion occurred when a gas cylinder inside the house detonated. Children had gathered in the home to buy lassi for iftar when the blast destroyed much of the building.

Meanwhile, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the gas cylinder explosion in the Tor Pul area of Chaman.

He extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the grieving families over the loss of precious lives.

President Zardari prayed for the elevation of the deceased’s ranks in the hereafter, patience for the bereaved families, and a speedy recovery for the injured.

He directed the relevant authorities to ensure that the victims receive the best possible medical care.

“Establishing an effective and active regulatory system is essential to prevent such tragic incidents,” President Zardari said.
