Seven militants killed in security operations in KP and Balochistan: Security sources

Security forces killed seven militants in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, security sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, five militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Bara, Khyber district, conducted under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework. Several militant hideouts were destroyed, while a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered, the sources said.

In Balochistan’s Chagai district, two militants were killed during an operation in the Nok Kundi area under the Radd-ul-Fitnah 3 operation, according to security sources.

The sources said the two militants were affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan and were allegedly attempting to set fire to an empty water tanker in Nok Kundi before fleeing. Security forces responded and killed both militants, they said.

The militants were also allegedly involved in arson attacks at various locations along the N-40 highway, the sources said. Eleven militants allegedly involved in similar attacks were killed on Aug. 31, according to the sources.

Security sources said operations would continue until the threat of militancy was eliminated and lasting peace was established.

Two days earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces had killed more than 71 militants and recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition during operations across Balochistan over a 96-hour period.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for what he described as successful operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, saying timely action by the personnel had thwarted the “nefarious designs” of militants.

Naqvi said the government valued the successful operations against militants and their facilitators, adding that the security forces were a source of pride for the nation. He expressed confidence that, with the support of the people, the militants would be completely eliminated.
