Severe earthquake jolts Islamabad, Lahore

ISLAMABAD: Severe earthquake tremors jolted Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and surrounding areas on Thursday afternoon at 14:20 local time.

The earthquake tremors were measured at 6.0 in the Richter scale and epicenter was Hindukash mountains.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan and the depth of the quake was 213km.

Earthquake tremors were also felt in Sargodha, Khushab, Swat, Swabi, Abbotabad and several other surrounding areas.

The earthquake was also felt in AJK’s Muzaffarabad and Neelum valley, while KP cities include Peshawar, Kohat, Shabqadar, Abbottabad, Lower Dir, Mianwali, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Deerbala, Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Diamir, Parachinar, Bannu.
