SGA powers Thunder to 10th straight win as Celtics halt Pistons’ 13-game roll

NBA

WEB DESK: The Oklahoma City Thunder extended their dominant run to 10 straight wins on Wednesday, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivering a 40-point masterpiece despite battling illness. The reigning MVP added six rebounds, six assists and three steals, pushing OKC to a 113-105 victory over Minnesota and an 18-1 season start, one of the best in NBA history. The win also kept the Thunder perfect at home and undefeated in their NBA Cup group.

Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards went shot-for-shot in a gripping duel, but late plays from Chet Holmgren and clutch free throws from SGA sealed the result.

Detroit, meanwhile, saw its impressive 13-game streak halted in Boston. Cade Cunningham poured in 42 points, but a missed free throw in the final seconds proved costly as the Celtics edged the Pistons 117-114. Jaylen Brown led Boston with 33 points and 10 rebounds, while Derrick White erupted for 27, almost all after halftime.

Elsewhere in the NBA Cup action, Toronto extended its surge with a last-second Brandon Ingram jumper to beat Indiana, Miami picked up a sixth consecutive win at home against Milwaukee, and group standings tightened ahead of Friday’s final round of matchups.
