ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court seeking nullification of the trial court’s order regarding his physical remand.
In his petition submitted to the court, Qureshi strongly urged for the annulment of the order for physical remand, proposing instead that he be placed under judicial remand.
In the petition, Qureshi has said that the trial against him is not only malicious but also politically motivated, orchestrated with the cooperation of the federal government.
The petition underscores that he was charged under the Official Secrets Act as part of an alleged act of political vendetta.

In his plea, Qureshi elaborated on the details of the charges laid against him. He pointed out that a preliminary investigation has already been conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). He maintained that he neither received the cipher telegram nor disclosed its contents to any unauthorized parties.
“Records substantiate that the cipher document remains in the possession of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” Qureshi asserted.
The Federation and the Interior Ministry Secretary have been named as respondents in the petition.
