Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan greeted fans from the balcony of his Mumbai residence, Mannat, on Monday evening, after skipping his customary midnight appearance on his 61st birthday.
The actor’s absence from the balcony at midnight prompted speculation on social media about possible security concerns. However, neither Khan nor his team has issued an official statement linking his absence to security threats.
Thousands of fans traditionally gather outside Mannat on November 2, hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor as he waves to them from the balcony.
According to Indian media reports, Khan has temporarily moved out of the residence, with renovation work cited as the reason. He later appeared at Mannat on Monday evening to acknowledge his fans’ wishes and affection.
A video shared on Filmfare‘s Instagram account showed the actor waving to fans from the balcony.
Before his appearance, Khan had also thanked his fans through a handwritten message displayed on a large screen outside Mannat.
“Thank you all for your wishes and love. Sending mine right back to you all,” the message read.

Social media users had speculated about the actor’s absence from his usual midnight appearance, with some raising concerns about his security. One user, commenting on Filmfare‘s Instagram post, asked: “Where is your glass protection?”
The speculation comes amid heightened attention to the security of Bollywood celebrities following recent incidents involving the film industry.
On October 18, unidentified armed men opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s vehicle, injuring two people, including his driver, while Shroff remained unharmed. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack and issued threats against people associated with Salman Khan.
However, no official statement has established a connection between these incidents and Shah Rukh Khan’s decision to skip his midnight appearance.

Meanwhile, Mannat was decorated with large posters and visuals from Khan’s upcoming film “King” as fans gathered to celebrate his birthday.
The display featured dialogues from the film, including “King akela kaafi hai” and “Dar nahi, dehshat hoon”.
