LAHORE: Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has become the country’s fastest fast bowler to claim 150 wickets in One Day Internationals, reaching the milestone during the tri-nation series match against England at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Shaheen achieved the feat in his 80th ODI, surpassing former Pakistan fast bowlers Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar, who both took 91 matches to reach 150 wickets.

He is the second-fastest Pakistani bowler overall to reach the landmark, behind former off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who achieved the feat in 78 matches.

Shaheen is the eighth Pakistan fast bowler and the 13th Pakistani player overall to take at least 150 wickets in the 50-over format.

The left-arm pacer has established himself as a key member of Pakistan’s bowling attack, regularly providing breakthroughs with the new ball and playing a crucial role in the team’s limited-overs campaigns.

The landmark adds to Shaheen’s growing list of achievements in international cricket as Pakistan take on England in the fourth match of the tri-nation series, which also features Sri Lanka.
