ISLAMABAD:  Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has removed Shamshad Akhtar from her position as the Minister for Privatization, sources reported.

In a significant development, the caretaker government has made key decisions pertaining to its authority in negotiating international agreements, according to sources cited by ARY News.

Furthermore, the Finance Minister has been relieved of her role as the head of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions. It is anticipated that Fawad Hasan Fawad will assume the position of Federal Minister for Privatization, as reported by the channel.

Economic situation ‘worse than anticipated’, says Shamshad Akhtar

Earlier, reports had surfaced regarding Shamshad Akhtar’s comments to the Senate’s Standing Committee on Finance, where she expressed occasional doubts about her decision to accept the ministerial role. However, it was clarified that these remarks were made in a lighthearted context.

Additionally, during the committee session, she discussed the state of the economy, noting that it was more challenging than she had initially expected. She assured that the caretaker government would soon unveil a roadmap to address these challenges.

Subsequently, in a clarification statement, Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar asserted that her comments about contemplating her role in the cabinet had been ‘misinterpreted.’
