Saudi Arabia’s central moon sighting committee announced that the country would celebrate Eidul Fitr on Wednesday, April 22, as the Shawwal moon marking the end of the holy month of Ramazan was not sighted on Monday.
Meetings were held in various cities in Saudi Arabia to sight the Shawwal moon. Additionally, the Saudi Supreme Court had appealed to the citizens to report the sighting of the moon, but no credible sightings were reported from anywhere in the kingdom.
In Pakistan, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will convene a moon-sighting meeting on Tuesday.
The Meteorological Office has forecast that Eidul Fitr will fall on April 10 as the Shawwal crescent is expected to be visible in the country on Tuesday.
