Sheffield United vs Oxford United postponed as Championship schedule shifts

Sheffield United’s Championship clash with Oxford United has been postponed, with a new date yet to be confirmed, leaving both sides facing an unexpected pause in their campaigns.

The fixture had attracted interest, given the contrasting positions of the two clubs in the table. Sheffield United, currently sitting 15th, were strong favourites heading into the match, with pre-game projections giving the Blades a 66 per cent chance of victory. A draw was rated at 20 per cent, while Oxford United were given just a 14 per cent chance of causing an upset.

For Sheffield United, the postponement delays an opportunity to build momentum and climb closer to the top half of the table. With 10 wins from 25 matches, the Blades remain within touching distance of the mid-table pack and will hope to use the rearranged fixture to push up the standings later in the season.

Oxford United, meanwhile, remain rooted near the bottom in 23rd place, locked in a battle to avoid relegation. With only five wins so far, the U’s were facing a daunting trip, but may welcome the extra time to regroup and address their struggles before the match is replayed.

The Championship table remains tightly contested at both ends, with Coventry leading the way at the top and the relegation fight intensifying near the foot of the standings. League officials are expected to confirm a new date for the postponed fixture in due course, as both clubs turn their attention to upcoming commitments.
