Sher Afzal Marwat made Senior Vice President of PTI

ISLAMABAD: Senior lawyer Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has been appointed as the Senior Vice-President the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

The announcement was made via an official notification shared on PTI’s Twitter page.

PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub issued the notification, confirming Sher Afzal Marwat’s elevated position within the party.

Notably, Sher Afzal Marwat is a Pakistani lawyer who practices at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He is also a member of the core committee of the PTI, a major political party in Pakistan. He leads the PTI’s legal team and represents several prominent PTI officials, including former prime minister Imran Khan, in various legal cases.

Sher Afzal Marwat is a Pakistani lawyer who practices at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He is also a member of the core committee of the PTI, a major political party in Pakistan. He leads the PTI’s legal team and represents several prominent PTI officials, including former prime minister Imran Khan, in various legal cases.

Sher Afzal Marwat was born on 4 April 1971 in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He studied political science and government at Government Degree College Lakki Marwat, and then obtained his LLB degree from the University of Peshawar. He later earned his LLM degree in international law from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.

He started his career as a lawyer and then became a civil judge at the Peshawar High Court in 2004. He returned to private legal practice in 2018 and joined the PTI after leaving the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), another political party. He was appointed to the PTI’s core committee and became a close aide of Imran Khan. He played a vital role in defending Khan and the PTI during the 2023 Pakistani protests, which resulted in a crackdown on the party and the abduction of some of its members.

Marwat is known for his outspoken and assertive style of advocacy. He has been involved in several heated arguments and controversies with other lawyers and politicians. He has also been accused of leaking sensitive party information to the adversaries and being a traitor by some of his fellow PTI lawyers. However, he has denied these allegations and maintained his loyalty to the party and its leader.
