Sher Afzal Marwat declares Arif Alvi written off within party

Sher Afzal Marwat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice-President Sher Afzal Marwat has expressed his concerns about President Arif Alvi’s role within the party, accusing him of acting against the party’s interests.

According to Marwat, President Alvi’s actions have revealed his true intentions, suggesting that he betrayed PTI. He said his son had applied for a party ticket, but he openly opposed.

Marwat accused Arif Alvi of deceit, alleging that the president went to Saudi Arabia under false pretenses and, in doing so, provided an opportunity for the Senate chairman and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to make legislation that did away with Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification.

Highlighting the absence of President Alvi during key legislative moments, Marwat emphasized that amendments to crucial acts like the Army Act and Cyber Act occurred without Alvi’s direct involvement. Despite having the authority to determine the election date, Arif Alvi opted to write a letter to the election commission instead, he said.

Expressing his dismay, Marwat questioned the state of affairs within the party, pondering over the motivations behind Arif Alvi’s actions and whom he might be trying to appease. He expressed dissatisfaction with the overall situation, raising concerns about the party’s direction.

Adding to his critique, Marwat voiced his disappointment with those who failed to attend a recent rally in Karachi.

He also criticized the local leadership, condemning what he perceived as the inappropriate distribution of party tickets.

Despite acknowledging the presence of the women’s wing, Marwat expressed discontent over the absence of anticipated leaders and questioned the commitment of PTI ticket holders who had promised significant support but failed to bring workers to the rally.

As tensions within PTI continue to surface, Sher Afzal Marwat’s statements shed light on the internal challenges and disagreements, adding a layer of complexity to the party’s dynamics.
