Sher Khan Shaheed Flyover opens for daily traffic in Lahore

LAHORE: In a notable development, the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, officially opened the Captain Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed Flyover—an extensive infrastructure venture covering a span of 742 metres and boasting three lanes.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by esteemed cabinet members and Corps Commander Lahore Lt. Gen. Syed Aamer Raza, celebrated the commencement of public access to the flyover, a remarkable achievement completed in an impressive 90 days, surpassing the initial projection of 150 days.
CM Naqvi, accompanied by Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Syed Aamer Raza, drove through the flyover during the event.
Commending the superior construction standards of this mega project, which serves as the latest addition to a signal-free corridor from Barkat Market in Garden Town to Defence Morr in Walton, CM Naqvi expressed satisfaction with the reduced travel time from DHA Phase-VI to Liberty—now achievable within 15 minutes.
Additionally, access to Walton Road has been streamlined to a mere five minutes.
During his address at the ceremony, CM Naqvi extended congratulations to the citizens of Lahore for the record-setting completion of the flyover, anticipating significant relief for the movement of 200,000 vehicles daily.
Recognising the relentless efforts of teams from NLC and NESPAK, who worked tirelessly around the clock, as well as the continuous monitoring by ministers and secretaries, the CM acknowledged the collective role played by all involved.
Highlighting the significance of the land, originally owned by the Pak Army, he commended the accelerated pace of the project, turning weeks of work into mere days and providing substantial benefits to neighbouring localities.
In a promising announcement, CM Naqvi disclosed that the Walton Road Lahore project is slated for completion by January 31, promising substantial relief for the public.

The implementation of a new drainage system, with an allocated budget of Rs. 9 billion, aims to prevent water accumulation on roads.
Expressing gratitude to Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Syed Aamer Raza for unwavering support throughout the project, CM Naqvi commended the tremendous hard work that led to the completion of the project before the stipulated time frame. He concluded by mentioning the ongoing construction of a diplomatic enclave at CBD, foreseeing further development in the area.
Moreover, The ceremony witnessed the presence of provincial ministers including Mansoor Qadir, Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Bilal Afzal, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, the chief secretary of the IGP, chairman of P&D, secretaries of finance, housing, and C&W departments, commissioner/DG of LDA, DC Lahore, DG of PHA, CTO, administrator of DHA, CEO of LWMC, CBD, DGPR, and other distinguished guests.
