LAHORE: In a significant development ahead of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11, Sialkot Stallionz partner Kamil Khan has announced his decision to part ways with the franchise.
Speaking in Lahore, Kamil Khan said he had taken charge of cricket affairs within the franchise with sincerity and dedication. “In a short period of time, we made significant progress and brought major improvements to the team,” he stated.
Among the most notable achievements during his tenure was the high-profile signing of Australian superstar Steve Smith as a direct pick for PSL 11. The move created widespread excitement among cricket fans and analysts, marking one of the biggest signings ahead of the new season.
“For a new franchise, signing a player of Steve Smith’s stature was a strong statement of intent,” Kamil Khan said, adding that the team worked strategically to strengthen its squad in a short span of time.
Smith, widely regarded as one of the finest batters of the modern era, brings vast international experience and leadership credentials. Though often labeled as a Test specialist earlier in his career, his recent performances in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), particularly with the Sydney Sixers, showcased his ability to dominate the T20 format with aggressive stroke play and match-winning innings.
Kamil Khan confirmed that his decision to leave came after administrative deliberations. “After some administrative decisions and discussions, I have decided to part ways,” he said. “I wanted Sialkot Stallionz to be in safe hands before leaving.”
He concluded by formally announcing the end of his journey with the franchise. “Now my journey with Sialkot Stallionz ends,” he said.
Despite his departure, the Stallionz appear well-positioned heading into PSL 11, bolstered by Smith’s inclusion and the groundwork laid already.
