Sindh govt announces public holiday on August 20

KARACHI: The Sindh government announced a public holiday in the province on Tuesday, August 20, to observe the Urs mark the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

A notification regarding the August 20 holiday has been issued by the Sindh government.

As per the notification, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the Sindh government will be closed on August 20.

The notification does not specifically mention a holiday for educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities. However, a public holiday generally implies that these institutions will remain closed.
The Urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai begins annually on the 14th of Safar (the second month of the Hijri calendar) and continues for three days.
