Sindh govt announces public holidays on Sept 5 and 6

KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared September 5 and 6 as public holidays on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

According to a notification issued on Wednesday, government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on both days.

However, the notification said that officials engaged in flood management, emergency services, and essential duties will continue to perform their duties during the holidays.

Earlier, the federal government had also declared September 6 a nationwide public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

Nation to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW) tomorrow

The Cabinet Division issued the notification with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi, is observed across Pakistan with deep religious devotion and enthusiasm.

The day is marked by processions, gatherings, and educational seminars highlighting the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

On August 24, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that Eid Milad-un-Nabi would be observed on Saturday, September 6, 2025, after the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal was not sighted.

The announcement was made following a meeting chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Secretariat, attended by representatives from the Islamabad zonal committee, SUPARCO, the Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
