Sindh interim setup: expected nominees

KARACHI: Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar has concluded consultations and finalised a list of names for the initial round of the interim provincial cabinet.

According to reports, the expected members of the interim cabinet include Dr Saad Niaz, Dr Junaid Shah, Ms Rana Hussain, and Brigadier (retd) Haris Nawaz. Additionally, Mubeen Jatori and Younus Dagha will also likely  join the interim setup.

It is noted that the names of Younus Dagha and Dr Junaid Ali Shah were suggested by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

The interim Sindh government has selected individuals from various fields, including academicians, prominent doctors, accomplished surgeons, economists, and security experts, to compose the caretaker provincial cabinet.

The qualifications and expertise of the shortlisted candidates were given special consideration, to ensure impartiality and work in the best interest of the province’s people. 

Justice Maqbool Baqar said that the consultation process for the caretaker cabinet is ongoing, and a formal announcement will be made soon. He reiterated that their role is to facilitate the Election Commission of Pakistan in conducting the elections.
