Sindh, KP announce four-day Eid holidays

KARACHI/PESHAWAR: Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments have announced four-day public holidays for Eidul Adha, extending the break beyond the federal government’s three-day schedule, according to official notifications issued on Saturday.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government declared holidays from May 26 to May 29, while the Sindh government issued a similar notification for a four-day break from May 26 to May 29, covering all government offices, autonomous bodies and local councils, except essential services.

In contrast, the federal government had announced a three-day Eidul Adha holiday from May 26 to May 28, covering Tuesday to Thursday.

The State Bank of Pakistan has also aligned with the federal schedule, announcing closure of all banking operations for three days from May 26 to May 28, with normal operations resuming on May 29.

Officials said Eidul Adha will be observed on May 27 (Wednesday), while May 26 will be marked as Youm-e-Arafah.

The differing announcements highlight administrative variations between federal and provincial authorities, with Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa granting an additional holiday compared with the centre’s three-day schedule.
