Sindh Police seize smuggled Iranian diesel worth Rs1.8 million


Law enforcers seized over Rs1.8 million worth of smuggled Iranian diesel in a recent police operation in Qamber, Sindh on Tuesday.

QAMBAR: Law enforcers seized over Rs1.8 million worth of smuggled Iranian diesel in a recent police operation in Qambar, Sindh on Tuesday.

According to the local police, two tankers transporting 7,000 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel were seized. Three people were also arrested in relation to the case.

The police have registered a case in relation to the recovered diesel.

The issue of smuggled diesel from Iran into the region has seen a significant increase in recent years.

Earlier this year, Frontier Constabulary Balochistan-North confiscated Iranian diesel being smuggled near the Balochistan and Sindh border.

As per reports, smugglers were bringing 379,000 litres of Iranian diesel in at least nine trucks. The confiscated fuel was then handed over to the customs department.

Similarly, the customs department seized smuggled Iranian diesel worth Rs40 million in Gwadar in October 2023. The customs officials seized two large oil tankers with 80,000 litres worth of Iranian diesel.

The Director General of Customs stated that the oil tankers were en route to other cities of Balochistan.
