WEB DESK: Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Monday claimed to have arrested three suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in a series of robberies, street crimes and motorcycle thefts during an intelligence-based operation in the Sohrab Goth area.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, the arrested suspects were identified as Sher Ali, the alleged ringleader of the “Sher Group”, along with Hayatullah and Riaz Khan.
A stolen motorcycle, a mobile phone and cash were recovered from their possession during the operation, according to The Nation.
Gang linked to multiple street crimes
The spokesperson said the suspects, along with their accomplices, were allegedly involved in a number of criminal activities, including robbery, street crime, mobile phone snatching and motorcycle theft in Gabol Town, the Industrial Area, Sohrab Goth and surrounding localities.
Officials described the suspects as habitual offenders and said a criminal case had already been registered against Sher Ali at the Sohrab Goth police station. Investigators are examining the group’s possible involvement in other incidents reported across the city.
CCTV footage helps identify suspects
The Rangers said the suspects were also allegedly involved in a recent motorcycle theft in Gabol Town that was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. The footage reportedly helped investigators identify and trace the suspects.
Authorities said efforts were underway to apprehend other members of the gang. The arrested suspects, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings and investigation.
