Six killed as Gilgit-Rawalpindi bound car crashes in Kohistan

WEB DESK: At least six people were killed when a car traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi met with a fatal accident near the Lower Matta Banda check post, local police said on Tuesday.
According to law enforcement authorities, the ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number AFB-324 was navigating the mountainous terrain when the mishap occurred.
Officials stated that rescue operations were launched immediately after authorities received information about the incident.
Identification underway
Police and rescue teams scrambled to the site shortly after the crash to retrieve the bodies and transport them to a nearby medical facility. Officials confirmed that the identification process for the victims is currently underway.
Initial reports indicate that the deceased hailed from various parts of the country, including Muzaffarabad and Khanewal, among other areas.
Relatives are being contacted as authorities work to finalize the identification of all those on board.

While the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, local police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly accident.
