The death toll in the Mizei Adda shooting incident in Qilla Abdullah has risen to six after two more injured victims succumbed to their wounds, police said on Monday.
According to law enforcement officials, armed motorcyclists opened fire on people sitting at a hotel late on Sunday night, killing four people on the spot. Two others who were injured in the attack later died in hospital, bringing the total fatalities to six.
Following the incident, relatives staged a sit-in on the Quetta–Chaman highway, which remained blocked to all traffic, causing severe disruption for commuters and transporters.
Police said the suspects involved in the shooting fled the scene, and raids were underway to arrest them. Heavy contingents of law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the area, with authorities stating that the situation is under control and security has been placed on high alert.
Separately, police reported another violent incident in Gulistan, where a late-night armed clash between two groups left one person dead. Following the confrontation, one group reportedly set fire to two houses belonging to their rivals.
Residents of the affected homes were shifted to safer locations, while valuables were destroyed in the blaze. Authorities said tensions remain high in the area.
In response to both incidents, additional police personnel have been stationed across sensitive locations, and search operations have been launched to apprehend those responsible.
Officials said investigations into both cases are ongoing as security forces work to restore normalcy in the region.
