Slammed Kanye West postpones France show

US rapper Kanye West has postponed his upcoming concert in Marseille, amid mounting criticism over his past controversial remarks and actions linked to Nazism.

The 48-year-old artist, now known as Ye, announced on X that he made the decision “after much thought and consideration.” He had been scheduled to perform on June 11 at the Orange Vélodrome.

“I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends,” he wrote, adding that he did not want to place his fans in the middle of the controversy.

The move follows pressure from French officials, including Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, who reportedly sought to block the concert. Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan had earlier stated the rapper was not welcome in the city.

The backlash stems from Ye’s previous actions, including the release of a pro-Nazi song and merchandise featuring a swastika. He was also barred from entering Australia last year and recently denied entry into the United Kingdom over antisemitic remarks, leading to the cancellation of his planned appearance at London’s Wireless Festival.

Despite the controversy, Ye continues to perform internationally, with upcoming shows planned across Europe and Asia, including a newly scheduled concert in Chorzów on June 19.
