ISLAMABAD: Bollywood fans are abuzz on social media after industry superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his desire to visit Pakistan, saying, “I’d love to visit Peshawar with my family.”
The $1.4 billion net-worth actor, also known as SRK, made this statement during a conversation with former Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar at an event. The former minister, now a lawmaker, extended a warm invitation to the Bollywood icon to visit Peshawar, sparking excitement among fans across the subcontinent.
SRK’s response was widely celebrated in the entertainment world, with fans sharing warm messages and heartfelt wishes. Many recalled his childhood memories, commenting, “We will always love you. Pukhtun to the core—love you Shah Rukh Khan. Come visit; your home always.” Others wrote, “What! Shah Rukh Khan also visited our Swat?” and “Positive response and vibes.”
Some fans even viewed his potential visit as a symbol of peace between the two nations, noting, “I wish the citizens of these two countries can find peace despite the politics. Visitors should be allowed—both ways.”
In his reply to Hina Rabbani Khar, SRK said, “I hope one day I can come to Pakistan with my children.” He also fondly recalled his past visits with his father, mentioning Peshawar and Swat as highlights of his childhood in Pakistan.
This exchange highlights the enduring affection for Indian cinema in Pakistan and the potential for art and culture to bridge divides. While formal diplomatic relations remain complex, personal and public gestures like this keep the hope of cross-border cultural exchange alive.
