WEB DESK: Pakistan cricketer Sohaib Maqsood has alleged that he was the victim of a major car fraud involving a showroom owner in Multan, claiming losses exceeding PKR14 million.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Maqsood said the showroom owner sold his car, valued at PKR1.4 crore, without his consent or original documents, which he still possesses. In return, he was given another vehicle with fake papers, and the individual allegedly extracted an additional PKR7 million from him. The cricketer appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Punjab Police, and other provincial authorities to investigate the matter and “catch these frauds who play with people’s hard-earned money.”
Maqsood further revealed that after eight months, he located his missing car in a house in Lahore. When he confronted the person in possession, the man refused to return it, claiming he had purchased it and warning that “even the police can’t take this car from this house.”
Expressing frustration, Maqsood said if a national sports figure could face such helplessness, “one can only imagine what ordinary citizens go through.” He urged authorities to take strict action and restore public faith in the legal system.
Many users responded to Maqsood urging the authorities to take action while also maintaining that such frauds are becoming quite common.
