ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Amir Muqam, addressing a media talk, here today declared October 27 as a day to expose what he called India’s usurping and illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, condemning New Delhi’s actions as a “dark chapter in history.”
Muqam said that the Indian army’s entry into Srinagar marked a “dirty attempt at occupation,” stressing that India cannot break the will and determination of the Kashmiri people through oppression and coercion. “The history of India’s occupation of Kashmir will always be remembered as a dark chapter. The people of Kashmir will never bow down to Modi’s oppression,” Muqam stated.
The Federal Minister also announced that a full-scale protest rally will be held tomorrow to express solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The rally will begin at the Foreign Office and conclude at D-Chowk in Islamabad.
Muqam paid tribute to the martyrs of the Kashmiri freedom movement, adding that many Hurriyat leaders continue to face imprisonment in Indian jails for their struggle for self-determination.
“Pakistan has defeated India in the battle for justice and will continue to provide moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people,” the minister said, adding, “The solution to the Kashmir issue lies in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.”
Turning to domestic politics, Muqam criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, urging him to “speak responsibly and focus on the issues of the people who elected him.” He also commented on the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, noting that “everyone feels a change in government is needed” due to the Prime Minister’s failure to address local challenges.
“We will fulfill the promises made to the people of Azad Kashmir. The Prime Minister wants to give as much support as possible to Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan,” the minister said.
