Sohail Chaudhry appointed new Islamabad IG amid police reshuffle

The federal government on Saturday appointed Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry as the new Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, replacing Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
According to a notification, Sohail Chaudhry, a BS-20 officer serving under the Punjab government, has been transferred and posted as IGP Islamabad with immediate effect.
Nasir Rizvi has been transferred and appointed Director General (DG) of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), according to the notification.
The transfers and postings are part of a major reshuffle involving key police positions.
Meanwhile, NCCIA Director General Syed Khurram Ali has been transferred and directed to report to the Establishment Division.

Khurram Ali has subsequently been appointed DG of the National Police Bureau (NPB).
Sohail Chaudhry will now oversee policing in the federal capital, with maintaining law and order, improving policing and ensuring effective security for citizens among the key challenges facing his new assignment.
