Soldier martyred due to a landslide in GB

CHILLAS: A soldier was martyred during a heavy landslide near Gonar Farm, Chillas in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), the military’s media wing reported on Saturday.
In a press release, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Naib Subedar Khalid “succumbed to the critical injuries and embraced shahadat” on Saturday.

The landslide occurred on Thursday and had blocked entire Karakoram Highway for any kind of traffic. The Pakistan army dispatched a Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) unit to help the stranded commuters.
The unit was led by Naib Subedar Khalid and while helping to clear the landslide, a second landslide critically injured the entire unit.
While Naib Subedar Khalid embraced martyrdom due to severity of his injuries, the other soldiers in the unit, Sapper Waseem and Lance Naik Azmat, are currently undergoing treatment in hospital.

The ISPR stated that “Pakistan army remains committed to serve the nation against all adversities”.
