MUMBAI: Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have officially tied the knot. The couple, who have been dating for years, opted for a low-key registered marriage with a civil ceremony held at Sonakshi’s apartment in Bandra, Mumbai, on Sunday evening.
Both Sonakshi and Zaheer shared their first wedding photos on Instagram, showing the couple dressed in matching off-white outfits. Sonakshi wore a beautiful saree, while Zaheer donned a kurta. They were surrounded by loved ones, including the bride’s father, Shatrughan Sinha, who stood by Sonakshi as she signed the wedding documents, The Indian Express reported.
“On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017), in each other’s eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope, and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever,” the couple captioned the photos. Both Sonakshi and Zaheer disabled comments on their posts to avoid negative remarks.

The wedding ceremony was attended by family members and close friends, including her Heeramandi co-star Aditi Rao Hydari and actor Siddharth. Pre-wedding festivities began on Saturday with pujas at Sonakshi’s family home, Ramayan. Sonakshi, dressed in a blue kurta suit, attended the puja alongside her mother, Poonam Sinha. The couple also hosted an indoor party for friends and family on June 20, followed by a mehendi ceremony on June 21. Among the attendees were Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha. Reports indicate that they also organized bachelor and bachelorette parties with their friends.
Shatrughan Sinha’s presence at the wedding put to rest rumours that he disapproved of the union. Speculation arose after he mentioned to Times Now that he was “waiting to be informed” about his daughter’s wedding. He remarked, “Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents.” Similarly, Sonakshi’s brother Luv Sinha declined to comment on the wedding speculation when asked by ETimes.
However, Shatrughan later dismissed these rumours, confirming his attendance at the wedding and expressing his support for Sonakshi’s decision. “I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I and why won’t I? Her happiness is my happiness and vice versa. She has every right to choose her partner and the other details of her wedding,” he told Zoom.
