Sophie Kinsella, auhor of ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’, passes away at 55

LONDON: The famous both “Confessions of a Shopaholic” author Sophie Kinsella has passed away at the age of 55 following her diagnose with brain cancer in 2022.
Kinsella, nicknamed as Madeleine Wickham, kept the diagnosis private for nearly two years to give her children time to adjust, despite the severity of her condition. however she made the illness public in 2024, while expressing gratitude for her medical team and her readers’ support.
Her family said, “We are heartbroken to announce the passing this morning of our beloved Sophie (aka Maddy, aka Mummy). She died peacefully, with her final days filled with the things she loved most: family, music, warmth, Christmas, and joy.
“We cannot imagine what life will be like without her radiance and love of life.”
She had written a couple of books which also included her popular novel “Confessions of a Shopaholic”, inspiring the 2009 rom-com starring Isla Fisher.
