Sophie Turner injured as ‘Tomb Raider’ series halts production

Sophie Turner as Lara Croft

Actor Sophie Turner has suffered an injury, forcing production on the upcoming Tomb Raider series to pause unexpectedly.

Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the shutdown, saying filming has been halted as a precaution while Turner recovers.

“Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury,” the studio said. “As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”

Sudden pause raises questions

It remains unclear whether Turner was injured on set, but sources indicate the pause could last around two weeks.

Despite the disruption, crew members are expected to continue being paid during the shutdown.

High-stakes Amazon project disrupted

The series, based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise, is one of Amazon’s biggest upcoming productions and is currently filming in the United Kingdom.

Turner leads the show as Lara Croft in the long-awaited adaptation.

The project is being developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer and executive producer.

Star-studded cast

The series also features a strong supporting cast, including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs and Celia Imrie.

Filming to resume soon

Amazon MGM Studios had only recently begun production on the series, releasing a first-look image of Turner in character earlier this year.

Filming is expected to resume once the actor has recovered.
